Speaker - Tim Romero

2006 07 11

"The Micro-Multinational Corporation - How outsourcing and offshoring can be a viable strategy for small and medium sized businesses."

Presentation
The Sigmund Decision Engine was designed in Japan and developed by engineers located primarily in Eastern Europe, and even before founding Wizaz, Tim Romero had been involved in the management of offshore software development projects in over a dozen countries.

Tim will explain Sigmund software itself and provide insight on both the pitfalls to avoid and the best-practices to follow that can enable small and mid-sized businesses to take advantage of the increasing availability of overseas talent and rapid globalization of the workforce.

The presentation will discuss alignment of interests, communication, and quality control not only for software development, but for task and process outsourcing in general. And perhaps, most important, how to tell if outsourcing will actually save money.

Personal Profile
Tim Romero is a successful serial-entrepreneur and has published dozens of articles on business and technology in both Japan and the United States.

Tim most recently headed the successful e-commerce firm Vanguard, which was acquired by publicly listed Digital Garage, and he then served on their board as a director. Missing the excitement of building a business from scratch, in April 2004, he founded Wizaz K.K..

Sigmund, Wizaz's flagship product, is software that automatically learns how to imitate simple human judgment and decision-making and has achieved accuracies of over 99% in many real-world applications.
