Seminar Summary - Summer Charity Event

2005 07 23

NetTokyo Summer Charity Event
Instead of our regular monthly seminar, EA-Tokyo along with other professional associations in Tokyo helped organize NetTokyo.

tely 800,000 yen in total donations to be divided among five charity organizations: Nanohana-no-ie, Children Without Borders, The Japan Leukemia Research Fund, The YMCA Children’s Fund, and Second Harvest Japan.

The first event of its kind, NetTokyo 2005 was by any measure a resounding success. Guests began arriving when the doors opened at 2 PM, and most stayed beyond the official 7 PM end of festivities. The venue, Hills 55 Café in Roppongi (which closed its doors the following day), featured enough space, both indoors and outdoors, to accommodate the crowd and still leave them plenty of room to walk around and network. And the food, Bento boxes prepared by The Pink Cow at a reduced cost, was a delicious hit. All attendees received a bento as part of their entry fee, and any leftovers were donated to Second Harvest.

Event organizers and sponsors also raffled off over 300,000 yen worth of prizes. Major giveaways included two round-trip tickets to Hong Kong (courtesy of Cathay Pacific), a Dyson vacuum cleaner (from Dyson Japan), a dozen coffee gift sets (from Nestle), and an iPod Shuffle (donated by Morgan Lewis). Other prizes ranged from T-shirts and DVDs to rounds of golf and dinner vouchers.

NetTokyo organizers extend their gratitude to all of the event sponsors, all of the supporters, and especially to those who attended the event.
